Baked Bean Quintet: Submitted by: Vickie | Date Added: 22 Apr 2015 Ingredients:

6 slices of bacon
1-lb ground beef
1-lb spicy sausage
1 lg onion, chopped
2-3 small red, yellow or orange sweet peppers
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 cans sliced mushrooms, drained
2-3 large cans of Bush’s baked beans, undrained
1- 16 oz can butterbeans, drained
1-16 oz can lima beans, drained
1-15 oz can pork & beans
3/4 c catsup
1-2 T Worcestershire sauce
2 T prepared yellow mustard
1/4 c brown sugar
1/2 t salt
1/2 t black pepper
Red pepper flakes, optional

Cooking Instructions:

1. Cook bacon in frying pan, but do not crisp. Saute onions, peppers & garlic in the bacon grease; drain. Add ground beef and sausage. Sauté until done.
2. Add remaining ingredients and put into a 2.5 greased bean pot or casserole dish. Cover dish and bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour. Adjust seasoning to taste.

(Cook's note: I have modified and perfected this recipe throughout the years, so this updates is as of 6.21.18. I prefer to cook this on the stovetop, simmer it and then serve in a crock pot to keep warm.! It’s a favorite request for me to bring for picnics, cookouts and pot luck. Enjoy!)
