2 T canola oil
2 small onions, finely chopped
2 c ketchup
1/4 c lemon juice
2 T brown sugar
2 T water
1 t ground mustard
1/2 t garlic powder
1/4 t pepper
1/8 t salt
1/8 t hot pepper sauce
bone-in chicken pieces, seasoned with salt & pepper
1. In small saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and saute until tender.
2. Stir in remaining ingredients & bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
3. For the barbequed chicken, sprinkle chicken pieces with salt & pepper. Grill, skin side down for 20 minutes. Turn chicken, brush with sauce, and grill 15-25 more minutes ((165 degrees for breast; 170 degrees for thighs), brushing with sauce frequently.
