1 c egg whites (fresh eggs are ok, I just cut down cholesterol), mixed with your favorite seasonings.
(I use garlic salt, Seasonal salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, thyme)
Pepper Jack cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, cojac, Swiss or cheese of your choice (I like pepper jack for a kick)
Optional fillers:
Fresh broccoli, chopped fine and cooked in microwave about 1.5 minutes; and or
Cooked sausage, chopped and heated in microwave
1. Heat Dash or Waffle maker. (Dash is the brand name of a mini single waffle maker. It’s great, but a pain in the ass making 1 at a time, so I went out and got a 4 section waffle maker. If you only need one or two...go to Target and get it for $9.99.)
2. For a crispier Chaffle, sprinkle some cheese in a well and let it melt a little.
3. Add a little of the chopped broccoli and/or sausage to the cheese.
4. Add egg mixture to wells.
5. Sprinkle more cheese on egg whites.
6. Close lid and cook 6-8 minutes.
7. Remove Chaffle and place on wire cooling fact.
(Cook’s note: I am a Chaffleho! True story....I am a member in a group of the name! A Chaffle is nothing more than a cheese waffle. It is the newest craze and is a replacement for bread in keto or low carb diets. I’m not keto, but I love them...and so does hubby...so why not cut a carb or two? The first one I made was plain and without adding broccoli or sausage. I like the broccoli one, Dale like sausage. The possibilities for toppings are endless with more of my tried and true recipes to follow. We prefer them freshly made, but they can be made in advance and frozen or reheated. This is my new breakfast on the go!)
