1 c cornmeal, mixed with 3/4 c flour
2 T sugar
1 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
3/4 t kosher salt
1/2 t chipotle chili powder
1 c buttermilk
3/4 c pumpkin puree
1 beaten egg
1. Mix first 6 dry ingredients.
2. Whisk in remaining 3 ingredients.
3. Working in batches, deep fry scoops of batter (about 2 T each) in hot oil (375 degrees), until puffed & golden (about 4 min)
4. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
