1 head of cabbage, shredded
1 (14oz) can of diced tomatoes, with juice
1 T salt
1 T pepper
1/4 c. cider vinegar
1/3 c. sugar
Mix all ingredients. (The amounts usually come out perfect every time but you can adjust salt, pepper, vinegar and/or sugar to taste.)

This is an old family recipe from my grandfather who is from Salisbury, NC. He never used any measuring cups or spoons, and only did it by pinches or handfuls! I was fortunate to be with him on one occasion while making it and when he did his thing, made him measure it. This "slaw" is used on NC style barbequed pork.
