1 c oats
2-3 slices of white bread, with crust, cubed
1/4 c chopped onion
1- lg egg
1 T Worcestershire
1-1.5 t salt
1 t pepper
1/2 t garlic powder
(additional catsup to put on top of meatloaf before cooking)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients and shape into an oval mounded loaf. Add catsup to top of meatloaf to keep it moist while cooking. Bake 55-60 minutes, uncovered. Drain off fat and let sit about 5 minutes before cutting.
(Cook's note: This is the original recipe off the back of the box and is still the best all time recipe! There may be a couple of moderations, such as the amount of salt & pepper, as well as the addition of white bread & garlic powder. I do not cook mine in a loaf pan. Instead, I use a casserole dish.
The best part of the meatloaf??? Meatloaf sandwiches the next day...white bread, Duke's mayonnaise with a couple of dabs of ketchup!)
